How old does my child have to be to start kindergarten?
Children must be 5 years old on or before December 1 to be eligible for enrollment into Kindergarten in September.
What are the school hours?
The school hours at all three elementary buildings are 9:15-3:25.
What is the Kindergarten Screening and how will the information be used?
This screening looks at your child’s development in the areas of language (knowledge of letters, words, and problem solving skills), concepts (knowledge of colors, counting), and motor skills (skipping, hopping, cutting, writing).
- Takes about 1 hour to complete
- Your child will have an opportunity to ride the school bus
- Parents will fill out a questionnaire while the child is being screened
- A letter will be sent later in the fall with a brief summary of screening results
The screening is meant to give us some baseline information about your child. This will help your child’s teacher plan instruction to facilitate a successful beginning of kindergarten.

Will my child nap?
No, there is no designated nap time.
When will we find out who our child’s teacher will be?
A letter will be mailed home to you at the end of August letting you know who your child’s teacher will be. With that letter, or shortly after, you will receive information about the Meet and Greet when you will be able to visit the school and meet your child’s teacher.

What do I need to do if my child is sick and stays home from school?
Call the school nurse to let the school know that your child will be staying home. Upon return to school, please send a note stating why your child was absent. If you have further questions, please contact your child’s school. There will also be a Parent Information Night with your child’s teacher in September.
